Added Muscle Mass and Increased Calories Led to Successful Bikini World Qualifier Prep

 

How’s it going ladies and gents! Today I am thrilled to share my client and friend, Megan Stanley’s 21 weeks Bikini Prep Journey.  Megan first came to me wanting to improve her metabolism, add some muscle, and really put herself in a great position before competing in the 2016 Canadian World Qualifier Bikini Nationals. We ran a 14 week Metabolic Stimulation Phase while maintaining her weight and Megan really increased her overall calorie intake and added some great muscle and was ready to start her prep. Megan ended up placing top 5 overall in a very competitive class! I am so proud of her hard work and what she accomplished; it was an awesome journey overall!

We like to show these stats because too often we see misleading information about weight loss or contest prep success stories. The moral of Megan’s story is she lost a significant amount of body fat, maintained lean body mass, and never had to take things to an extreme during her prep. Megan accomplished her goals without making her life miserable and was very content with her overall prep experience.

I started my prep for my 3rd Nationals at approximately 22 weeks out. I trained with Eric Martinez with Dynamic Duo Training for the majority of my off season and my entire bikini prep.

Before I started with Eric I was consuming roughly 1200-1300 calories/day and completing 40 minutes of cardio 3-4 times a week on top of my weight training. I weighed between 147-149lbs which was the lowest I’ve ever maintained in my offseason. I am 5’8” and have weighed anywhere from, 155-165lbs in previous off seasons. My goal was to maintain a leaner physique all year round but also work on boosting my metabolism.

I had done some major metabolic damage in my first two shows in 2010 and 2011 where I would consume 700-800 calories a day, eating close to zero carbs and completing 2 hours of cardio a day.

Working with Eric and following a macro tracking diet I was able to get up to eating over 250g of carbs a day, over 1800 calories and maintain my weight at 149. My energy and strength increased a ton and I was able to put on some lean muscle in my back and glute’s.

I went into my prep doing no cardio, eating lots of food and at my lowest weight I’ve ever started at. Eric took my goals and made them happen.

This bikini prep was the best I ever felt physically. Mentally I struggled with thinking I was not going to be ready on time and that I was going to look my worst yet. Eric reassured me every time that I would be and kept me motivated my entire prep. Even though we have over a 4 hour time difference between us he always responded to my messages right away. I felt so supported and knew I could trust the process working with him.

In Nationals 2015 I weighed 138lbs on show day. My goal was to get to 135 this year so I could come in a little tighter, especially in the lower body. I woke up on show day and weighed in at 129lbs. My expectations were surpassed and I knew I never looked better.

I took home top 5 at the Canadian World Qualifier Championships and was blown away with my physique. I placed 8th the previous year so I was extremely proud to place top 5 with the best bikini competitors in Canada.

I am now 4 weeks post show and have only put on less than 2lbs with my reverse diet plan Eric has given me. We are working together to keep growing my metabolism without unnecessary fat gain. This is a huge help mentally as post show can be a challenge.

The support and guidance I have received from Eric has made all the difference in this prep for me and has made my entire journey an amazing experience.
