FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
What is the
benefit of doing an “online”
training program with you rather
than hiring a personal trainer to
work out with?
There are several benefits our
approach offers our clients. First,
of course, is that we can provide
the customized program a personal
trainer would offer at a fraction of
the cost. We also provide a
“holistic” approach to fitness that
includes a thorough nutritional
profiling, a vital aspect of fitness
that most trainers do not focus on.
Finally, our goal is to give you all
the tools you need to find success
on your own, without having to rely
on a personal trainer to keep you
motivated. We are always available
via phone or email should you need
help down the road, but we wish to
empower you to create and maintain a
program that will work for you for a
lifetime, not just a few months at a
time.
Can we help people who are a bit
older, overweight, have high blood
pressure, major past injuries, and
are afraid to start a workout
program?
Yes. While we advocate an
intense
training program
for those who are healthy, we pride
ourselves in being able to create
customized fitness programs that fit
the needs of all our clients,
whatever their circumstances. We
would be honored to help you reach
your goals and empower you to live a
dynamic lifestyle. We do recommend
that you ask a physician first to
get full medical clearance, to be
certain you are safe to do our
programs. We emphasize that we are
not doctors or physical therapists,
we are personal trainers.
Why do I need a personal training
and nutrition program customized
just for me?
As we talked about in our
Nutrition
article
on our
Resources
page, everyone’s body is different.
When you consistently consume the
right fuel mixture for your body,
you are providing your body with the
essential nutrients it needs to
regulate and repair and regenerate
itself on an ongoing basis. You will
be amazed at the results you can
achieve with our customized
nutrition programs. As for training,
we all have different goals that we
want to achieve. So, by customizing
a training program that is tailored
for your specific goals, we can
design workouts that will focus on
achieving those goals. We will make
sure to keep your workouts
interesting, so you will not get
bored and feel like you are going
through the motions. This will also
keep your muscles “guessing” thus
preventing your body from plateauing.
How will you keep me motivated
throughout the program?
While we primarily provide you with
the
tools
to go out and effectively reach your
goals yourself, our programs are
designed to give you ongoing
positive reinforcement and feedback
so you can keep on track. We track
your weekly results and adjust your
program to see what is and is not
working for you. You will have
access to us through email
throughout the program and we will
continually educate you about
strategies you can use to reach your
healthy lifestyle goals. We
encourage our clients to think a
little on their end about what
really works for their own body. Our
job is to empower you to develop
habits that work for you and will
last a lifetime. Giving you the
power to succeed on your own and not
depend on someone outside yourself
is our ultimate goal.
I’ve tried many weight loss
programs but have never been able to
lose weight and keep it off. Why
would your system be more successful
than any other?
The reason most weight loss programs
fail is that they address the
symptoms rather than the causes of
being overweight. Like chronic
fatigue, headaches, or constipation,
excess weight and obesity are
expressions of underlying
biochemical imbalances within the
body’s fundamental homeostatic
controls. That’s why it’s so
critical for you to identify your
metabolic type and to count your
daily macronutrients. Eating
accordingly will help to correct
those underlying imbalances. This
explains why some people lose weight
on a high-protein diet and others
lose weight on a high-carbohydrate
diet or anything in between, because
bodies vary widely regarding what
they can and can’t metabolize. Any
dietary goal should be for all
nutrient consumption to be converted
to energy, not fat storage. The best
way to lose weight and keep it off
is to address your genetic dietary
requirements and to be as consistent
as you possibly can with your daily
macro nutrients. We provide you with
a blueprint for healthy eating
habits for your particular
metabolism that, when combined with
a customized workout program, will
keep you at your ideal weight.
I am a vegetarian and refuse to
eat animal proteins. Can I still
benefit from this program?
Proteins are essential nutritionally
because of their component amino
acids, which the body must have to
synthesize its own variety of
proteins. Getting the protein you
need in your diet is much easier by
consuming animal sources, because
they contain all nine of the
essential amino acids. However, with
careful food balancing you can still
adhere to the macronutrient ratio
appropriate to your metabolic type
and adhere to your allowable foods
through protein sources such as
plant proteins (corn, lentils,
beans, and nuts).
